About the practice

HEM Architects is based in Sheffield and works across Yorkshire and the Midlands, including Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Wakefield, Leeds, Nottingham, Lincolnshire and Rutland. The practice was founded by Paul Testa to bring together sustainability and architecture, creating beautiful and practical homes. Its team includes a certified Passive House Tradesperson and a certified Passivhaus Designer. HEM takes a data-driven, fabric-first approach to design, aiming to manage budgets while achieving strong energy performance, and supports clients from initial concept through planning and construction on new build homes, extensions, retrofit and greenbelt projects.
