Halcyan Water Conditioners, based in Bristol, is the sole UK supplier of an alloy-based water conditioning system used for domestic, commercial and industrial properties. Unlike salt-based softeners, the Halcyan unit is a passive, non-electric device made from a blend of 12 metals cast into a core of turbulence-producing fins; as hard water passes through, repeated contact with the alloy is said to alter the structure of calcium carbonate so it no longer clings to surfaces such as boilers, showerheads and kettles, removing existing limescale over time and preventing new build-up while retaining the water's mineral content. The company states the system requires no power, magnets or sacrificial anode, is WRAS approved, and has been used worldwide for more than 30 years. Halcyan offers a range of unit sizes for different property types and a network of approved installers, alongside a 12-month performance guarantee.
